Good job Lanie.  Now you've inspired me - I WILL get out and get my boy's harness all adjusted and get him hooked up in the next week.  Just waiting on my eyes to settle down a bit as I had LASIK surgery on Friday.

I do love green with my chestnuts.

Thanks Deb!  That's what I was thinking too.  Maybe a forest green or maybe a hunter green.

Hi Lanie,

yep, wear black with green, or green... green will bring out the colour of his coat, as it is a complement to chestnut horses... I knew a friend who had some horses (all related) with the same colour as Leroy does in their coats... they were also paints.  She started with blue as her colours, but ended up going green... blue wasn't bad, but green went better.

Also avoid yellow or white, as this will clash as well.

take care deb

Finally got the husband to come to the barn with me today.  Got a short video of me and Leroy with the runabout.  Also took some great pictures of the two of us.  I think for showing I wont wear red.  All I see is me in the pictures and Leroy gets second billing.  I want people to notice him first then me.  Any suggestions fellow drivers?

Well, I got my harness yesterday - yippee!!!  So I figure if I play around with it for the next week or so I'll eventually get all the straps where they belong and get everything adjusted correctly, lol.  Then I can line drive him a bit to get the feel of things, and then I'll hook him up and take the cutter out. (No don't worry, I won't do that alone!)  The new boy was a good sport today though about standing around while I mucked about with the breastcollar and saddle.  I'm looking forward to getting out and enjoying the snow with the cutter!  And at night I keep going through the carriage catalogs the dealer gave me, and trying to decide what I'll buy as my first summer vehicle..... :-)

Well went out of the arena today with the runabout.  Leroy was brilliant!  He didn't even care that it made an awful racket in the snow.  I think I was more worried than he was.  He wanted to canter with horses in the field that were spooked!  We stopped at the end of the driveway and 2 vehicles went by fast and made splashing noises on the wet road.  He stood like a good boy and didn't move until I asked him to swing.  Hopefully we will be showing in southern Ontario this year.  That is if the finances hold out.

Hi

We have been doing our own bit of 'sleighing' the last bit.  The track has been snow covered off and on, but your kind of sleighing and this kind is different... wheels just weren't ment for sligh rides, as my poor back can attest... but the horses are getting quite a work out some days! lol lol

I remember giving sleigh rides years ago for a stable I worked for, with a great old team the job was an easy one.  It was a lot of fun, and the experience is one of my fondest memories, late at night, with the moon out and lots of fresh snow... campfire at the end of it, it was great, the horses loved it too.  The sound of the bells was the best kind of music.  Patches and Cheif knew what they were about and could pretty much make the tour themselves!

take care

Thats great Fances! Sleigh riding is so much fun!  I was able to go for our first time a few weeks ago as well.  It was awesome!  Alas, all of the snow is gone right now so Im just waiting for another snow storm!!

Lanie- Thats awesome!!  Where are you planning on showing this year?  Perhaps I will see you out there!  Keep us posted on your progress with your young guy!

Just posted some photos of our first sleigh ride of the winter. The horses were amazing!!  The weather was exceptional; we had a winter wonderland;  with the sleigh bells,  it was just like a Christmas carol!
