Hey ladies, can a mid-forties Brit join the club?
I thought I would share this with you becuase it made me titter...
We have our horses on a DIY yard and ride 4/5 times a week often with a young friend called Lauren (12 - I remember it-vaguely...) after about two months of riding out Lauren mentioned her Mum was taking up riding again and commented that she thought she might be a bit old. "how old is your mum?" I enquired, "45!!!" came the reply, "well I'm 45" I retorted.."WHAT???? you can't be, you've got your own horses and everything!"
Since taking up riding Mum has apparently lost 10 years and now seems just like me. Bless!
Funnier still, my Hubby also rides, at 38 he is officially my toy boy - Lauren says he seems MUCH older and it must be because he's a man...

Can't figure this one - I am sure I look my age, I'm the designer/MD of Fuller Fillies a company which Designs and manufactures rider-wear for plus-sized ladies; selling in 17 countries now most certainly takes it's toll, and Hubby is 38 going on 18 so he's no help - it absolutely must be the horses eh?

Yes I get the same looks if I stumble and blurt out my age by mistake. NOt that I am ashamed of it, heck I am kind of proud of the way I run and jump and play (ok so I am sore for a week afterwards) lol But the thing is keep going, do things, even though you can't do them as long or as often or with out aches and pains. I have been into horses since I was a kid and was lucky enough to retire early, and spend all of my time atop of a horse. Trail riding was my only passion, never liked the competition thing, or racing or breeding, just wanted to saddle up and ride out. I own and drive my own rig (3 horse trailer, with LQ) , and 3 crack jack traill horses. I have been all over N. America with my horses and stil have many trails to cover yet, I just hope that I can keep doing this till I am 100, that give me another 35 years, lol. So yes ladies, keep going, don't sit still, they will think that you are ready to die. lol
Oh I've been poked a few times in the mistaken belief that I had stopped breathing...
still, the snoring is a good signal that all is well.
My own Neice rode out on my Horse at the weekend with the young girl at the stables - apparently my horse really CAN gallop at full pelt with a 12 year old aboard.
Ah well. You don't get to enjoy the surroundings at 100mph!
I agree Suzanne, let the young rodeo queens gallop through and miss the scenery. I prefer to meander along and smell the roses as we cover all of the trails big and small. Now that I have switched over to the gaited trail horses, I do find that I can cover more miles in the same time that I did on the cow ponies. But hey it is what ever we enjoy when out there. If you want to gallop, go for it, I will see you when we get back to camp...lol and I will tell you what you missed on the way there.
Hi Suzanne

THANK YOU for "Fuller Fillies"!! This line is giving me the courage to return to riding!
