Hi, it is summer where I live in the southern hemisphere.  I live in northern Patagonia, a very nice little town called San Martin de los Andes.   It is in the mountains and during the winter a well known ski resort, but during the summer, in general the weather is lovely, long days, lots of sun and blue ski.   The rainy season starts in May.

However, this past weekend we were getting ready to go riding and the wind started... it had actually blown most of the night, there were some clouds but still plenty blue sky.   Then as we were leaving the house it started to drizzel, we did not get far up the trail when the drizzel turned into snow.   We rode back to the house, we were not prepared for snow in summer...

Although it was lovely to see everything covered in a mantel of white, the strawberries were at a loss, their flowers died, but in general the land really benifited from the water and dampness of snow.

Today is lovely, the sky is blue and it is warm, hopefully summer has really arrived and we will be able to enjoy many days out on the trail.

I live in Northern Ontario, so riding in the snow is a regular occurance if you want to get in some saddle time.  We have wonderful trails where I keep my horse and they keep them groomed for us. Last winter we had just the right amount of snow and winter was fairly mild.  We missed only two weekend rides from Dec until the spring.  All the trail work kept the horses good and fit .  On one particular weekend the footing was perfect, we were able to cover most of the main trail at a canter. It was almost surreal in the quiet woods, with the snow laden branches forming a tunnel overhead, as even the horses made almost no sound in the snow.
Well my fondest memory would as a kid.All the neighbourhood kids had ponies and when we had a snow day we would hitch our ponies up to our tobagans and went hell bent for leather down the snow bound side road, tobagans bumping off the snow banks, snow  spraying our faces and being hit in the head at times with snow ball that flew from our ponie's feet.Oh what fun!!!!!!
