Hi everyone. We are a great group with a common history. Its great to hear all of the stories! I took lessons for 10 years and taught riding at camp as a young person. As a city girl I did not have many options. So as an adult (before kids) I was limited to the occasional trail ride. But, I was always on the lookout for a chance to ride. On my honeymoon in Mexico, I went riding on the beach every day(alone, foolishly). On day I went off the resort property (again, foolishly) and was attacked. A man was calling for help and as I approached he tried to pull me off. Let me tell you if it weren't for that sweet, wonderful horse whisking me away like the wind.... To this day he is the most beautiful horse I have ever been on!

But my fondest memory is running full speed down a hillside in Ireland. I have family in Ireland who are in horses (they've raced at Ascot!!) so it's always fun to go there.

Anyway I can't wait to hear everyone else's stories!

Hi Robin, I had always wanted to ride on the beach by the Ocean, and a couple of years ago went to Mexico and got that chance. The other riders wanted to walk, but the leader asked who wanted to canter along the shore, so off we went and it was a dream come true !
My other best memories of riding was with a Morgan/Percheron gelding, Sundance. I bought him for $150 when I was 17 and he was with me for 25 years. I loved to ride him in the tall grass of a nearby field and he would grab some grass and eat while we rode along, with my little beagle/lab dog following on his heels. One day Sundance stopped to have a poop, and poor little Skippy had to duck! It was so funny, and I still laugh about that, some 35 years later !! I really do think horses have a sense of humour and like to play jokes ! Anyone else think that?
Don't have just one! My Mom and I used to work at a barn where they did trail rides. She would be lead and I was backup. Now my daughter rides. We both ride at the same barn. Actually the one where my Mom and I rode!! It is also where I started my riding lessons.
