UPDATES: Look for a report on the Ingrid Klimke Symposium in an upcoming issue of Horse Sport!

Ingrid Klimke shared this incredible tidbit with us (and we have permission from her to announce it!). She has been awarded the title of "Reitmeister" from the German Equestrian Federation. She is the only woman to have received this distinction, and the only person under the age of 50!

Ingrid said that she would love to return to Nova Scotia! Rarely does she ever return to the same place twice, so what an honor for her to say that! The clinic was AMAZING! I extended the offer to her so hopefully she'll return either in 2014/2015!!

The Nova Scotia Dressage website has a new look with lots of info on dressage around the Maritimes and the World! It's an educational site where info is gathered for easy access. Also follow NSD on Twitter and Facebook, as well as Barnmice!

Cheers!

Joanne

Next Nova Scotia Dressage Symposium will be May 4-5, 2013. I shall announce who is coming in a few months but it promises to be a terrific one. I will be looking for riders to participate!

I just got word that a very, very special guest will be coming to watch the clinic! An incredible opportunity has been given to us to show off our Atlantic Canadian riders and horses!

This is what was quoted to me: "Ingrid is a great teacher and so modest and unassuming. You will love her. She has an interesting approach which will appeal to both dressage and eventing people. She does very few clinics because she is so involved with her own competitive horses and her family. This event will be a great opportunity for her and for you. She is unique."

We have been given a "gift" to have Ingrid choose Nova Scotia to be her ONLY appearance this year in North America! I do hope we will have an "awesome" show of support to say THANK YOU! :)

The rider application forms and auditor pre registration forms can now be downloaded on www.novascotiadressage.com

Selection will be based on the USDF Rider Selection Criteria for clinics which is also posted for viewing. Of course for a clinic of this magnitude everything will be done fairly. We would love to see a variety of riders from all over the Maritimes! But it all depends on the video sent in which should show off the horse & rider at their best! Presentation is important.

Good luck to all![:)]

To have Ingrid Klimke accept an invitation to come to Nova Scotia all the way from Warendorf Germany, was like winning the equestrian lotto! This has to be one of the most important equestrian events to take place in the Maritimes in a long while! Ingrid is an excellent communicator and for both auditor and every rider alike, it should be an opportunity not to be missed! Auditor and rider applications will be ready for downloading on the Nova Scotia Dressage website Feb. 1.

-The fees for the selected riders are as follows:
Group of 4 @ $150 per rider per lesson - Young Horse/Training Level(dressage), PreTraining(eventers), Training(eventers), First/Second Level(dressage);
Group of 2 @ $250 per rider per lesson - Third Level, Fourth Level, Prix St. George, Intermediare/Grand Prix.

-The fee for auditing: $100 for 2 days, $60 per day. No walk ins. Only pre registration and color coded bracelets will be handed out at the door for each of the auditors.

-Riders must first apply to ride and provide a short dvd/cd, or You Tube link, so the selection committee can base selection on effectiveness of the rider's aids and movement of the horse. The horse presented in the video MUST be the horse that will be in the clinic.
-Riders selected will be notified then will pay the required fees. The fee will include a groom and the rider's coach. Stabling is a separate fee.

Ms Klimke's lecture will happen on the Saturday evening and I am trying to secure a conference room at one of the local hotels. Her lecture will be approximately 2 hours with Q & A:
"Die abwechslungsreiche Dresssurausbildung von der Remonte bis zu schweren Klasse"
"The versatile Education of the Dressage Horse from the young horse up to the higher level". The fee for her lecture will be $20.

For more info please go to the NSD website or FB page.

You don't want to miss this one!

Nova Scotia Dressage has invited two-time Olympian and World Champion equestrian, Ingrid Klimke of Warendorf, Germany to Nova Scotia as a clinician.

A popular competitor among world-class eventers, Klimke also ranks among top international dressage riders. As a nationally certified riding instructor and daughter of the late six-time Olympic gold medalist, Dr. Reiner Klimke, Ingrid Klimke has starred in numerous German, European and World Championships. Last year she captured individual bronze at the European Championships in Blenheim, Great Britain and placed second at the 2006 Badminton Horse Trials in Great Britain.

Training with some of the world's best equestrians since 1999, Klimke placed fourth overall on Sleep Late in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and, again, in 2004 with a sixth place overall in cross country and eighth place in dressage at the Athens Olympics.

This is a "ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY" to learn from one of the World's best! Ingrid will teach 8 lessons per day. The groups will range from Young Horse all the way up to Grand Prix. Also included will be groups for the training and pre training levels for eventers. Yes, this clinic is for both eventers and dressage riders! The lower levels may be groups of 3 or 4 riders and the FEI levels will consist of 2 riders. Ingrid will also do a lecture either on the Friday or Saturday evening. The planning stages are still tentative at this moment.

RIDER AND AUDITOR APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOADING ON NSD IN THE NEW YEAR.

Hi Vicki! Nice that you found my site! I've lived in NS since 1995. Living in New Zealand must be wonderful! Gorgeous Country! There is also a Facebook Page for NSD and might have some people on there that you may know to reconnect with!

Cindy Ishoy clinic at Fraser Equestrian Center in Port Williams, NS, this weekend! Looking forward to that! A CI clinic is a great auditor experience! One picks up a lot of helpful info by listening to what Cindy has to say!
