"The Trouble with Being a Horse" Reviews

My book about a girl who turns into a horse, "The Trouble with Being a Horse," is really going places! Since getting US distribution the book has been picked up by a few chain stores and has gotten quite a lot of reviews! I have to say I'm pretty pleased that the book is liked by both horse people and non-horse people (the true test!). Here's what Readers Favorite had to say:  Reviewed by Joy H. for Readers FavoriteOlivia loved horses and loved working at the stables with Claudia. Olivia’s aunt…See More

The Trouble with Being a Horse - award-winning horse novel

The Trouble with Being a Horse has just won the NABE Spring 2011 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for Juvenile Fiction! I'm very excited about winning this award and it's helping to open up doors all over. Several book stores and tack stores in the US are interested in carrying it, which will be a great addition to the stores that already have it in Canada. So far, the reviews have been (mostly) very positive and it's not just young girls who are enjoying it--a lot of older horsey people like it…See More

At the risk of sounding like a teenage groupie, I have to say that I can't get enough of your videos! It's so refreshing to have an honest, inside-scoop perspective of eventing and I have so much respect for your attitude and knowledge. I…

Hi Emily, I realized that I emailed a reviewer who was doing a different book! There's still hope. I've messaged Pamela. Sorry about the confusion. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I have just published a book for girls who love horses called The Trouble with Being a Horse. Olivia is a horse-crazy girl who mysteriously turns into a horse and is forced to put her knowledge of horses to the test as she navigates this new and bizarre world. This book is very horse-centric and full of details for the true horse lover. You can read the first three chapters online at www.singlestride.com, as well as some reviews and articles about the book.

I have recently started to lease a 16hh Swiss warmblood and my main interest is in dressage. I was on the equestrian team at Trinity College, Dublin, when I was at school there. I can't wait until I have my own place and can look after my own horse--I've been waiting 20 years for one!
