I am a novice rider (and probably always will be!) but love to be in the saddle. I have an 18 year old 13.2 Welsh section C, but as I am only 5'2" he is plenty big enough! - not so far to fall!! Bracken and I competed in our first Trec compettion recently and now we're hooked, but as it is a newish event competitions are few and far between. Would like some tips from any other Treccies.

Hi. Check out the link for a better definition of Trec. I just loved the competition. The nearest competitions to me right now are at least 75 miles away....too far for my boy to travel, compete and return in one day! Your horse looks beautiful. I bought my boy when he was 14 to hack out with my daughter and her pony. We have entered a few dressage competitions but as Bracken was at stud until he was 10, then gelded and backed, he is not so flexible and the best we have been placed at dressage (beginers) is 4th. He tried his best for me though!
Water crossing can be one of the obstacles, but not in the competition I entered this time. I believe there are 26 official obstacles that can be used but there were only 16 in competition I did. The picture I used is myself and my daughter with our ponies playing in the river at the end of our yard. So pretty!!!!
That is REALLY interesting! I have a dressage horse and we do tons of hacking because our barn is located beside a regional forest. I always take the same routes because I am easily lost out there! I seem to have a terrible sense of direction! I see your photos showyou with a group going through the water. Was that taken during the competition? How do they decide the placings? It sounds like something that would be really fun (for me at a VERY low level)!
