I was told by one long time endurance person that if you make the electrolites available to your horse the horse will take only what it needs and never overdose. Has anyone tried this?

Depends on the ride and the weather if we use electrolytes or not. A cold, wet day with non-stressful terrain we might skip the electrolytes. Hot, dry weather or difficult terrain we will definitely use electrolytes.Training runs - nope (we have a…

Last year I used Phatman, but this year I don't know which kind to get. I know lots of people that use Perform and Win, and I've heard Ride Rite is good too. I just use how ever much it says.

I always use electrolytes, and would never do a ride without them. Just make sure you get a kind you can't over dose your horse on, as I've heard some electrolytes will shut down your horse if too much is used.

I have had this discussion with judges. They allow long manes in jumpers, but not hunters. The argument I was given is that it is a sign of respect to honor the tradition. Most will permit a single braid, but you will be docked points. I'm on…

I have seen this in horses where the saddle pinches along the withers. Check the fit and that you have a hand width clear along each side of the withers. Or the footing in the arena, if it is to deep.

Hello: I have one of those very short backed, large barreled Arabs. It took me along time to learn What saddle we needed, then try to find one! Too many saddle makers work off stock trees, and won't do a true custom saddle, those few I found…

Hi Diane! Welcome to Barnmice!! It is my favorite horse link and biggest time eater. I live in Michigan, USA but try to be a citizen of the world. I started riding shortly after turning 50 and I have one horse that I board near my home. He's an 8 year old buckskin/bay QH that I got when he was barely 3. We have gone thru many stages as he matures but I try to deal with issues as they arise and do hope some things get easier. I ride for the fun of it and have to keep this guy entertained or he gets bored and then testy. I do love our relationship and fortunately enjoy doing groundwork stuff and still deal with some fear issues when riding but we've come a really long way together.
Enjoy!!
