After a long hiatus raising two daughters to teenhood, I started riding again about a year and a half ago. I have a thoroughbred mare (Kat) that I am having fun with, working my way back to the three foot adult divisions.
My oldest daughter and I love going to the KHP and wathching the 'big' jumper classes in the grand prix arena and, of course, shopping!
Do you have any pets?
2 dogs (Sassy & Snapple), 1 cat (Cookie)

Wow ~ Sounds familiar. Funny how teenage daughters lose interest, or fall out of the riding thing. My daughter was doing quite well in dressage (4th level), and then lost interest. I think the pressure got to her ~ and school too. She wanted to focus on school and so turned away from the riding. There were no kids her age riding that level or at the barn either ~ so she needed more social life I guess. Which is fine.
But I got the fever long before then ~ must have been when she was 7 years old doing 'up down' on the longe line, I felt the familiar engine of passion reving up and I never looked back.
I leased a horse for a while and got some good coaching ~ tough to find, cause I'm not in the same region I was whe I was a teen. Then I decided I wanted my own project, so I searched for Tia ~ and fell in love with the Big Filly at three months. Now she's a lovely coming 4 Holsteiner mare. i 've raised her myself and have done all her training. I'm definitely in it for the long haul.
I finally found the right coach ~ very lucky to have him, and I 'm hoping to bring her along as a jumper. SHE'll be able to do it ~ not sure about me! Coach says I'll be fine, but some days I wonder if my bones are up to it.
How did you find starting back at it? I'm in a similar boat ~ took about 20 years off to raise my children and start a profession and now I'm hard raising a young horse and hoping to compete in Jumpers :)
Sometimes I wonder though! The mind is willing but the body is weak ~~~!!!
I took a two year hiatus off of riding and it was so hard. I couldn't wait to get right back in it. It has been a hard transition for me because I got out when I was still riding a pony. Now I'm doing adult divisions on my new thoroughbred gelding. Your mare is very pretty :)
