Ruth Vale has not received any gifts yet
It's been two years since my Total Knee replacement, and three since his serious hind end injury (best guess is that zigged when he should have zagged, on ice, and went down in the pasture) and we've been slowly making our way toward real riding. He's clearly bored stiff in the ring, but we normally walk the trails and with the hard ground, I'm using Old Mac boots - which he interprets as the right to run. ;). I still can't post for lengthy periods and his sitting trot is impossible…

What a lovely night to ride. Warm and comfortable with crisp clean fall air.
He's so much fitter now - We worked in the ring for almost thirty minutes. I got the Morgan Horse magazine back in the middle 1960's for one year. I decided to fall in love with Arabs (for one thing they were still showing natural back then) but I've always liked Morgans. I like what I saw of Wh. Duke's disposition in the ads, so different from the fire breathing show horses!
Mary Jean Vasiloff was very kind to me when I wrote her, answered questions and she sent me her calender. I also love her book "Alone With Your Horse", still got it somewhere in my piles of horse books.
I am so glad that Morgan breeders are saving the old Morgan type. I think it was Reese who brought in the Saddlebred lines, after messing the Morgan up he went to run Kelloggs Arabians in California and also changed the Arabian from the foundation conformation, it was not Saddlebred enough for him! I wish that guy had kept out of both breeds, we'd have a lot more small, compact, food-efficient and sane horses around instead of imitations of fire breathing dragons!
