A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)

My name is Sarah M. Robinson, I’m 17 years old and have been working with horses for seven years. I also own my own Photography Business focusing on Equine, Auto motive and Nature Portraits.

Although horses have been my passion ever since I was born, it was not until the fall of 2007 that I began riding, and realized that being an equestrian will be one of my life long ambitions. At Tara Farm Rescue and Krooked River Farm, I worked with many different Rescued and Rehabilitated horses; we were very active in 4-H with their horse shows and camp along with other local horse shows where I consistently placed in the ribbons. This initial experience with rescued horses, and the training of Draft Horses showed me that I could not only excel in my riding career if I put my mind to it and worked hard.

After discovering Equestrian Eventing after riding for 7 years in Hunt Seat, Dressage and the occasional Jumpers, I realized that this exhilarating sport is my passion. It requires a special bond between horse and rider, including the perfection of movement found in Dressage, while Show Jumping and Cross Country is a combination of skill, precision and bravery.

Now, I work at Hillside Stables in Glastonbury, Connecticut taking lessons with Kelly Morin, a professional equestrian in hunters and western equitation, and as an apprentice to Alexis Samuels, Horse Trainer and Eventer of several years. At Hillside, I have the opportunity to work with a variety of horses expanding the scope of my horsemanship.

Currently, I focus on riding Jack, a 16.1hh AQHA whom I plan to begin my Eventing journey with this season along with Hunter Equitation. My second mount, Cali, who is a spirited Thoroughbred and experienced jumper with whom I am planning on doing Jumpers, and start some Cross Country schooling. Not only do I ride five times a week, (Mon. Tue. Thur. Fri. & Sun.) But I also train the barns miniature ponies for upcoming shows in hand Jumping and Pleasure Driving classes. Working with horses has opened up a world of opportunity professionally and emotionally because I am learning something new every day from my equine partners.
