A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
I train Classical Dressage under the riding master Frank Grelo. Classical dressage truly is my life passion. The connection you create to be able to dance with your horse in such harmony is second to none. The journey is a long one but it is well worth it!
I currently have 4 mares:
25yr old perch/tb Furie - ex eventer schooly
7yr old DWB/Clyd "Chevelle" akaBean - currently in classical dressage training
6yr old Morgan "Remmington" aka Remmy- currently in classical dressage training. Will be available for sale.
3yr old TB "Prospect Lake" aka Lake - Pasture Ornament

I also have two stallions.
7yr old American Sport Pony "Just Wait" aka Danny - Currently training classical dressage. Is available for stud.
2yr old Paint "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" aka Harley - busy growing like a weed.

Then there is Syd who is Harley's life partner. He is a 6yr old Mini Donkey.

I train and back all my own horses as well as supply it as a service to others. I also teach lessons for any discipline looking to solidify there equitation as well as gain confidence both on the flat and over fences.

I have a history in low level eventing. Spent a year with a reining trainer (but I still did dressage). Worked at a hunter jumper and Standardbred breeding farm for 5 years. I've been around horses my entire life. Without them... I have no life!

I strongly believe in desensitizing horses to everything you can.

I strongly believe in desensitizing horses to everything you can. You never know what you will come across while with your horse and it's up to you to remain relaxed in all situations to pass this confidence onto your horse.

I was very lucky to board at a barn who also owned a contracting company. All of my horses have learned to not bother with heavy machinery and loud noises. Dump trucks, dump gates crashing shit, bulldozers, bobcats, excavators etc are all no big deal no matter how far… Continue

This is going to end up a rather large blog, that could be seen as a rant, but it's not really intended as such.  Just keep in mind that this is my opinion, from my experiences and you are free to disagree.

I find the more I browse the internet or go spectate at shows the angrier and frustrated I get at many of today's horse people's attitudes.  I've banned myself from looking at riding photo's for the most part or getting involved in any kind of training conversation as I usually…

An introduction

Hello fellow horse enthusiasts,

This being my first blog entry I am going to introduce you to everyone here at Applegate stables. We are a family owned and operated company where each of our animals are family. Human wise, there is myself (Sarah) who is the main caregiver of all the critters. I do all of the training of the horses, give lessons, etc. My passion is classical dressage. I love soaking up as much information through literature and clinics. I have been so fortunate to be able… Continue
