What is a Warmblood Horse?

For a while I always thought to get a Warmblood one crossed a hot-blooded horse with a cold-blooded horse. It made sense to me. Hot + Cold= Warm, so a hot-blooded…

Greener pastures

To ride or not to ride that is a silly question. Truly that is a goofy question. The mailmen's motto is my motto for riding, literally, lol. Now, on to my opinion of stables. This is based off of my opinion only. No fun facts today(although I'm thinking of doing the Warmblood horse tomorrow)

Wyn farm is a lovely establishment nestled on forty acres of land in the country. The owner and manager are two friendly women with a shared love for horses and…

MANual Labor.. whoa

A fence post a day, keeps the doctor away(or, brings them to you faster than what you'd like). Lemme tell you, lifting tree trunks, I mean fence posts, is harder than it looks. It's called MANual labor for a reason: a MAN was meant to do it, not a woman(or teenage girl). Good thing I love manual labor outside,eh?

Today was technically my very last day at the stable…

Bear or Horse-I'm Confused..

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!! I never watched those movies(unless Krypto the super dog counts), too long, too boring and unlike Captain America, Superman is boring. But why discuss super heroes(Iron Man,…

Every dog has its day and horses do to.. keep your chin up...

"Every horse has its day" ~ Jordan Kroll & Julie Fleming(lol)

I went to the stable hoping that despite the didisagreeable weather, I'd still have a good ride. Yeah. Right.

Before I delve into detail of my hectic…

I Have A Dream

“Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.” – James Allen

I want to be a DVM(Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) that specializes in equine and bovine mammals(that is, horses and cattle). My plan that I've had for a while, is the following: I'll shadow a…

Ride to your fullest and live big

. . . . . .So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake

Just keep on reaching though the limb might break

We’ve come this far, don’t you be scared now

Cause you can learn to fly on the way down........

There are times where I go to the stable not knowing what I'll be doing with Cody.  Will we be doing more work on the ground than…

A canter is a cure for every evil~ Benjamin Disraeli

When your horse follows you without being asked, when he rubs his head on yours, and when you look at him and feel a tingle down your spine...you know you are loved.

John Lyons.

Truly, truly this is a true statement. The first time Cody ever followed me, without being asked, and rubbed my back and blew on my neck a…

Ahh~yes,Dressage.... :)

Don't cry for the horses that life has set free. A million white horses forever to be. Don't cry for the horses now in God's hands. As they prance and they dance in a heavenly band. They're ours as a gift, but never to keep. As they close their…

Perhaps spring Is Coming and a game of tag!!!

I live in the always changing, never predictable,always-keeps-us-on-our-toes state of Michigan. Where all four seasons can and will be experienced in one hour, fifteen minutes per season. If you're from Michigan than you're one tough person who can withstand it all. If you're from Michigan and you ride a horse in the winter, than you're…

The Art of Jumping

In order to be a jumper(as far as I care anyway) the rider and horse must both be confident, strong, experienced, aggressive and agile. Here some basic Jumping 411 FYI's: *most horses, unless injured, can jump

. . . . . . . . . *some horse enjoy jumping…

Exactly what gives a horse the right to be labeled 'easy'????????????????

What defines an easy horse? What qualifications must a horse meet to be labeled as 'easy'?

I consider the horse I used to ride as an easy horse. He is very laid back and easy going. He follows me like a puppy and does pretty much all I ask(usually). He never Spooks and bolts with me, bucked once and never again and I don't have to worry about him breaking away from me... ever. Lunging him…

Ten Reasons Every Girl Needs a Horse

Let's see.... I'll be seventeen this September 8. That'll mean I'll have been trying to work owning a horse as a good idea into my parents minds for about... Mm.. eleven years? Yes, eleven. In all reality, being one of eight kids, seven of us homeschooled and still under the same roof. Living in the city of Lansing, with no land and no means of supporting a horse, two dogs,…

If one door closes then another opens....my best one yet ^_^

All good times must come to an end so new ones can begin. We don't always want our good times to end because we enjoy them so much. When they do we feel depressed and torn, sometimes angry even. It appears to me my good times turned great are coming to an end but fear not, for new times are about to begin!

Six months ago I began riding lessons with fabulous horse named Cody and a patient, encouraging,…

My Achey Breakey Back - Can Riding Horses be Physical Therapy for Your Back?

So, a little while ago I decided to attempt rollerskating(against my will) at a cursed rollerskating ring, and I pulled a Shaggy(if you've ever seen Scooby Doo and watched episodes with Shaggy falling oh-so dramatically and amusingly, you know what I meant, stop laughing, it hurt), and I fractured my(tail) bone(I refuse to call it what it is, just Google it!) which resulted in a pained back. My doctor explained to me I would be sore for months and…

Let's revisit the Azteca....... Why, because I love them.

We have discussed the Azteca before, I wrote a blog post on them a while back, and now I am writing again on the Azteca as I just love both variations. The Mexican Azteca is not as physically attractive as the American Azteca, or at least that's my opinion.

First, lets give an overview of the Mexican Azteca: the Mexican Azteca is an extension of the Spanish horse, although a vast majority of…

^_^ he listened....finally

Another ride. Another day. And it was great. Well, good at least if not great. If ya'll been following my posts(I Know Jackie has) then you know the horse I so madly adore(he's just so cute and handsome), has been being a devil to me.  Some of these issues, I know, is me. When Cody starts to act out(tossing his head;snorting;pawing the ground;shifting;etc) I get... nervous.... nervous that I'll lose control completely and that once I do lose control, I'll…

Akhal-Teke: A Shining Horse

The Akhal-teke horse is truly remarkable. Pictures of the Akhal-teke have been found dating back to the 9th century B. C. which means it's older than the Arabian horse. The Akhal-teke was favor by Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Marco Polo as a mount…
