Today was a great ride for us both.  I came in about the same time and he had already been fed, so I pulled him out and tacked up.  We went to the round pen to warm up and let some of his energy out.  We trotted for about 10 minutes, a nice relaxed trot, and then picked up a canter both ways.  His canter was much slower and I even had to kiss to him to keep him moving!  He was very distracted by the horse and rider on the other side of the arena, but did not fuss over it.  I put on the reins and legged up with no problem.  He did walk as soon as my feet got in the stirrups which I would rather him stand until told to walk, but he was calm and I didn't want to start a fight to early in the ride.  We walked in small circles rotating direction, and getting larger as he calmed down and relaxed.  We picked up the trot and followed the same pattern, and eventually were trotting figure 8's again with not much issue.  He was still very distracted, but no high strung response came of it.  My issue now is what should my next goals be?  Each ride I want a goal (which is determined by how well the horse does), so I can focus on that instead of worrying what he could be doing.  He did very well though and I am pleased.  :)  Hope this continues!
