Today is the fine example of lack of consistency....   I got called at 0715 this morning, after getting off work at 2300, to come in at 1030 instead of 1500.  My drive is about an hour as it is.  So in 2 hours and 15 minutes, I need to feed my 3 horses, clean stalls, try to work with Mossy,  and get showered and ready for work!  Of course I forgot my saddle as I was rushing out the door to the barn, not like I had time for that anyway.  I did get him out for a little, we free lounged in just a halter.  He was much more calm today and picked up a slightly more relaxed trot right off the bat.  We trotted for about 10 minutes both ways, and cantered a lap or two both ways.  His canter was much slower and more controlled which was nice to see.  Since I wouldn't have the time to cool him off after a real work out, we did some ground work with the mounting block.  He walks away (Forward and backward) as soon as you step up.  So today I made him stand with me on the first step, and then on the second.  As soon as I stepped up, he started to move.  I made him stop and take baby steps up so I could pet him.  I got him standing still at the block with his head at the actual mounting block instead of his back.  He licked his lips, and sighed a lot which my understanding is that he understood what I wanted him to do.  It is a start, and he did pretty well.  Unfortunately that was the end of our day 3 training, since I will be working 1030 to 2300.   My work hours are terrible, but it pays for my expensive equine addiction. ;)
