Can't always have good days, have to throw in some bad for variety LOL

I was going to practice Lesson 8 on Saturday but things changed. I did some ground work inside then went outside because there was a nice breeze and would be no flies. It was hot in the indoor arena. He was jittery as soon as we went outside and I should have went back inside, but I didn't. The dogs at the next door neighbour, new people, were running loose and barking.

After I got on and walked around a bit he spooked at the mounting blocks at the corner of the arena, like he never saw them before LOL

Then the dogs started to chase the horses next door, with the owner running behind them screaming to stop and come here, they were not listening. Cooper stiffened and I could feel him trembling, so I called my spouse in a panic, come quick and hold Cooper, I am getting off.

I have got to learn the emergency dismout!! I have such a hard time getting off and on, that is going to be hard to learn.

I said I was done but when I went inside I decided to get back on. We were doing really good until something banged on the outside wall and he did a jump. I thought I was going to be in the dirt again, but I managed to stay on and he stood and did not run anywhere after that spook. I rode around just a few minutes more to get some good things happening then got off on a good note.

I should have just worked him in the round pen, I was not feeling that well to begin with. I had a little headache and all my muscles were hurting. I don't know if htat was from Thursdays lesson still, I should have felt better by Saturday.

Oh well, we all have those days, and Cooper can have them too.

Thanks Jackie!! I kept thinking I didn't want him to think he could get me to get off if he spooks and acts up. I know I should have handled the outdoor spooks better but my brain was in panic mode with those dogs on the loose next door. I could actually hear my coach saying to ignore that and think about what I want him to do, but it wasn't working.
