*ahem* to the left we have the gorgeous Scout(of run gypsy run) in all his glory, and to the right we have Shiva(of Big N little gypsy vanner horses) in all her beauty.

Behold the Gypsy Vanner in all its regal glory. Truly, truly the Gypsy Vanner is a beautiful and refined breed meant for the regal.

The Gypsy Vanner is a fairly new breed to America and is therefore very expensive. But its newness isn't the only reason they're expensive horses. The Gypsy Vanner is an attractive breed of horse with a welcoming look and sweet temperament. The Gypsy Vanner is also very versatile and able to be shown in Dressage, Western, Western Dressage, Showmanship, Driving and many others. Their versatility, temperament, appearance and newness to America combines for an expensive price.

Gypsy Vanner comformation: the Gypsy Vanner should have a short back in proportion to its overall body. A broad chest should smooth out into heavy, well-rounded hips, which flows into heavy flat bone(flat at the knee) with ample hooves. Desirable hair is straight and silky. Feathering begins at the knee in front and at or near hocks in the back and extends over the front of the hooves with ample to abundant mane and tail. A sweet head with a strong neck in harmony with the horse's overall body give the Gypsy Vanner an even more attractive appearance. The Gypsy Vanner comes in three sires Cart Gypsies average 13.3hh and smaller;Classic Gypsies measure 14-15hh and Grand Size Gypsies measure 15.1hh and bigger.

Disposition: Gypsy Vanner horses should exhibit traits of intelligence, kindness and docility. They have been called the Golden Retriever of the horse world as they are so sociable and friendly. These horses are the perfect horses for children and anyone who wants a smaller, friendlier, easier horse to handle. Most people who meet Gypsy Vanners fall in love with them instantly.

Gypsies come in virtually every color. From piebald, skewbald and palomino to black, roan, blue roan and even Appaloosa coloring. Blue eyes in Gypsies are acceptable and, I feel, very pretty.

I've never met a Gypsy Vanner horse. I've watched many shows on the breed, read all about them and researched them often. I say I have a 'favorite' breed, but I really love them all(except Quarter Horses, I like them but wouldn't want to own one). I've met multiple purebred and crossed Arabians(none black unfortunately), a magnificent Azteca mare(I've done school reports on them), Thoroughbreds;Standardbreds;Friesian horse and a few others I've always admired but never a Gypsy Vanner. I think the thing I like most about them is their size, feathering, temperament and ability to be used for anything. My two favorite Gypsy Vanner horses are RGR's Scout and BnL's Shiva. Scout is a magnificent buckskin stallion I could stare at for hours and Shiva a lovely mare.

That's my breed of the day. I think tomorrow we'll do the Trakehner, a handsome German Warmblood that exudes elegance and power.

Have a happy ride and a happy Easter :)
