I've been in Dallas for nine days now. Anybody who really knows me knows how I feel about cities. I love in the capital of Michigan. The city is what I know. So when I was told I was to spend over a week in the city, I was less than thrilled.

My Aunt and Uncle live in Garland,Texas, not really the city but not the country either. Their backyard looks like a jungle. It does. Trees and bushes are everywhere and there's even a creek full of wildlife. Just down the street is a "ranch" with a lovely Paint horse. My Aunt and Uncle said I could go see it, but I decided this little trip would be horse free. My Uncle might be on to something with this, "There's more to life than horses" theory.

I was dreading this visit, not because I didn't want to see my family, but because I didn't want to see the city. But I've got to say, Dallas is a lovely city. We haven't seen a whole lot of Dallas as my Aunt's tooth has been bothering her and it's been quite hot, but the parts I've seen are beautiful.

Last week we went for a stroll through a park. The park was beautiful, with a river full of geese, ducks and turtles flowing through it. You could hardly tell you were even in the city. We ate at a Vietnamese restaurant and tried new, delicious food. We even drove through downtown Dallas in the night. Dallas is so beautiful at night, with those buildings all lit up. It looks like a jungle made up of stars.

My Aunt is a school teacher. Having been raised and taught by a teacher, I've nothing but respect for what she does. Her students and co-workers love her and I can see why. She's a pretty cool lady. The school she taught at is lovely and the people there even more so.

Spending these days in Dallas has been fun. Dallas is not a place I'll call home or wish to be, but it's not bad either. It can actually quite beautiful.

They say the more fun you have, the faster time goes by. Well, these days went by in a blink of an eye.
