The second part to “Equines in Education” focuses on equine related programs you can take as the post-secondary level. The list included universities and colleges from both the U.S. and Canada.

An equine management or science degree is good for interests in a career as a breeding and foal manager, equine industry consultant, equine rehabilitating specialist, equine event/facility manager, equine marketing, sales and promotion or as a coach. The rest of the programs are pretty straight forward.

University of Guelph: Guelph, Ontario

The University offers a major in Equine Management. It’s Canada’s first of this kind and offers a hands-on approach to learning. In the duration of this course, everything from horse handling and behavior to physiology and nutrition is taught. The courses are divided into two years at the Kemptville campus and two years at the university's main campus.

The university also offers 12-week online courses for an equine studies diploma or equine science certificate. Groom One is also offered.

Olds College: Olds, Alberta

Olds College offers a number of animal science diplomas including farrier science, animal health science, equine science, exercise rider and jockey training program, race horse groom training, veterinary medical receptionist and western recreational rider.

Rocky Mountain College: Billings, Montana

Rocky Mountain College offers majors in equestrian studies ( equine business and equine studies) and equine writing and publications.

Lake Erie College: Painesville, Ohio

Offers equestrian facility management, equestrian teacher/trainer, equine entrepreneurship, equine studies- stud farm management and equine studies- therapeutic horsemanship

Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center: Waverly, West Virginia

An all equestrian college that offers programs in everything from rider certification to teaching. You can even bring your own horse. Courses operate in intervals of 12-weeks that can be taken year round.
