First Gykhana - Stage 2

Firstly let me apologize for the delay in adding stage 2 of First Gymkhana.. life has a way of getting in the way ☺.. If you have any questions about the painting process you are welcome to drop me an email: catherin@animalarthouse.com

Catherin

First Gymkhana acrylic on canvas 24" x 30"

The second stage of the painting is where the blocking in of the fold lines on the riders jumper are put in... This will determine the direction of the fabric... I used a mixture of Ultramarine blue and black for the dark directional lines... and phalo blue and ultramarine diluted for the lights...

These directional lines give me something to work with when creating the folds and shadows in the jumper...

Using a mix of Ultramarine and Phalo blue I have started blocking in the edge of the saddle cloth. The shadows will be darkened up a little later on in the painting process...

Next I added more white to the helmet visor adding a little blue to create the shadow where the visor joins the helmet.

Stage 3 coming soon ☺
