HeartLand’s newest fundraiser is up and ready! Please go to www.specialhorses.org for details:

THEY ARE ALL WINNERS!”

What makes your horse a winner? The 135th running of the Kentucky Derby is coming up shortly – even those who are not interested in horses will watch this race. Everyone knows that just to be entered in this prestigious event means that horse has to be a proven winner in past races. Similarly, the Rolex Three Day Event will feature horses competing in different disciplines – again, horses and riders at the top of their game, just like the horses competing in the FEI World Cup in Las Vegas.

www.SpecialHorses.org is organizing our next fundraiser, one of our two (out of the four) fundraisers per year that will be limited to in-dire-need 501(c)3 equine organizations (HeartlandHorseRescue in Florida, True Innocents Equine Rescue in California, Sunkissed Acres Rescue and Retirement in Georgia, and The Equihab Foundation in Maryland). We would like to take this opportunity to highlight how all horses are winners – in what they give to us, as pleasure mounts, broodmares, therapy horses, retired companions – in all the varied ways that they enrich our lives. And by doing so, we can help those who help horses in need.

We invite you to submit a photo and a 100-word description that details what you feel makes your horse a “winner.” The cost of registering will be $10 per horse (or 3 horses for $25, or up to 10 horses for $50), which goes directly to support one of the four above-mentioned organizations. The picture and description will be posted on our site, and it is then up to each entrant to ask their friends and family (at $5 a vote, payable directly to the same organization to which the original entry fee was paid) to vote for their special horse. We will tabulate the winners for each “Rescue Team,” and will offer four individual prize packages. Each prize contains:

(1) a one-year premium membership to the Chronicle of the Horse Forums
(2) a $30 gift certificate from Dover Saddlery (www.doversaddlery.com)
(3) a fine art necklace (value $40) donated by Christina Harmon (Chrissi Lynn Designs, www.thezenlady.com) - Blkarab on Chronicle of the Horse Forums
(4) a blinged browband (value $60) donated by Sheri Pederson (www.onthemuscle.com) - slpeders on Chronicle of the Horse Forums
(5) a t shirt from the 501(c)3 organization

This contest is open to the general public, so please feel free to send this out to friends and family, and to cross-post on other forums. We also invite you to browse our site, www.SpecialHorses.org, and learn about the other 501(c)3 organizations we support. The horses they have saved, the horses they have fostered, the horses that aid them in therapy – they are all winners too. We have included a direct paypal link to each of these organizations on their page on our site, because all of these organizations are also deserving of your support. Every donation to any of these organizations is tax-deductible.

We look forward to sharing your stories and your horses!

Thank you as always for your support!
Please forward this to your friends!
