I event my Perch-QH. He loves going xc! He just turned 8 (yesterday) and we are still just doing BN as we have taken it slow and easy. He is ready to move up, but I want him to get some more milage. Pictures: www.calypsofarmeventers.blogspot.com

OTTB for adoption

Teddy (Roving Eye, by  Silver Deputy) is a 1996 bay gelding that Heart Land Horse Rescue has up for adoption. Teddy has impeccable manners: he clips (trim and body) without restraint and loads and trailers. However, he does have some OTTB quirks and therefore requires someone with experience. Companion only, he would be best suited to keep a mare company, as he does prefer the ladies to the boys! Requires shoes up front and a low starch diet. $300 adoption fee. Contract and references required.

It snowed at my farm in Chuluota, which is just east of Orlando! The horses are all in their stalls, heavy blankets on and lots of hay! Tomorrow is to be in the 20's which means even colder at the barn.

Glad you asked before attempting! Wraps and bandages that are applied incorrectly can do alot of harm. Rather than trying to explain, I suggest you purchase the book, USPC Guide to Bandaging Your Horse. If you can't find it locally, you can go…

Bambi, the story of one of our rescues

Posted on June 30, 2009 at 9:29pm 5 Comments

I copied this from our website, it is the story of Bambi:

On January 25, 2009, we took in a rescue pony, a snowflake appy that our foster home named Bambi. She was in a bad situation that was only going to get worse, underweight and blind in one eye. She was very sweet upon arrival, but due to being isolated from other horses for who knows how long, she became very herdbound at the foster… Continue

They did it again! Amazing race today as they won the Mother Goose stakes at Belmont and set a record. They won by over 20 lengths! And she made it looks SO EASY!!

Lori,
Before I just go on a "search" here in the forum, I thought I'd ask you in hopes of maybe saving some time.
The kind of rescue work you do ......
....and by the way.. Bless You for it (((((((You)))))))<--L/D hugs

I need to know .... When a skinny sad needy horse FIRST arrives ... How do you start them "Feed Wise" ???

I'm hoping that there might be a thread regarding this topic "somewhere" in Barnmice ...that you know of maybe.
If not ....
Would you be willing to share some info with me??

Someone wants to give me an 18 year old bay gelding.
He's skin and bones ... I don't know whether to try to take him myself, or if it would be better to call in a "rescue" service.
...I'd like to do it ...but I know I'd need loads of ongoing advice.
(it goes without saying that if I take him, the first thing I'd do is have a vet do an initial health check ASAP, and maybe have a ferrier out as well )
What are your thoughts??
