Well last weekend (Feb 19-22) I spent in Louisville at the AERC Convention. What a great weekend full of seminars, panels and opportunities to pick the brains of some of the top Endurance riders and veterinarians in North America. I came home with pages and pages of notes of things to keep in mind this coming distance season. Not that I haven't been doing badly just I want to up my game a tad bit more, plus you never stop learning.

The bad news is that it was -3 and snowy in Louisville. I had hoped to go SOUTH for a bit of warmth. Yeck! But Dallas (stop over on the flight home - yeah, I know fly to Dallas to get home to Toronto from Louisville) was warm and sunny - what I saw of TX in the 2 hour layover.

Let me tell you flying with a head cold is painful! This is the second time I have done this but this time was prepared with plenty of drugs - antihistamines, cold medicine, etc.

I haven't been able to ride for a week because I can't breathe and besides which stopping every few seconds to blow your nose is not great when trying to get a greenie going. We had been making leaps and bounds the past 2 weeks on Finnegan and Rocky, to the point where I brought Peanut up to start ground driving and hooking. Amazing ponies - good memories, good work ethics and a good trainer all makes their return to work after a year off so much better.

Staying at home to do taxes and heal this weekend other than a visit to OVC where one of the mares from the barn I manage is in with a mystery illness "hyper-protein anemia".
