Hi I have just started my horse Gulliver over jumps he loves it and can jump as high as you want him to but he doesn't seem to know when to take off. He either jumps to soon or to late.? I have tried starting from the poles on the ground. any other ideas? ?

Thanks

Megan

There is an old book, available used on Amazon, "Schooling Your Horse" by Vladimir Littauer, with a sane way of schooling horses to jump properly.

I mention it because this is the book I mainly used when struggling to train my first horse when I was still pretty much a beginner.  My horse learned to jump decently.

Do some gymnastic work with him Megan. Trot poles to a cross bar first. best thing is to get yourself a book (there are lots ) and start from page one. One of the best is "101 Showjumping Exercises"
