Michigan is once again confused. Is it spring is it winter? Michigan just cannot seem to decide. It's currently 48° outside and all MUD. Normally I like mud, but now that I'm cleaning paddocks I hate it. This morning was terrible. One paddock was all mud, one was mud and ice and the other was all ice. The slickest ice I've ever had the privilege of sliding on. Due to the mud the manure gets mixed in and is therefore heavier to pull in my trusty cart. In the all Michigan Mud paddock my boot was pulled off, my foot plunged into the mud and manure combo, sending cold wet Shockwave up my leg. After my boot was retrieved my cart got stuck. When I finally reached the dumping ground I had the sudden realization that the cart needed to be dumped. After a lot of heaving, grunting anf muttering, I managed to get the cart emptied.....onto my jeans. Hooray me. This continued for five more trips before I went onto the iced paddock. There I cleaned much faster and the cart didn't get stuck. No, instead I slid on leg a portion of the way down. This too continued for several trips. Oh Michigan, how I hate thee.

I've developed a system for cleaning without the horses getting in my way. I move all seven geldings and one mare into the same paddock and clean the other two. After that I move the horses and clean the last paddock. Today the horses acted as though they hadn't hay in months. They were all gunning for bear. Being especially aggressive to one another. At some point Colby, a fjord (if you've ever seen Frozen you know what a fjord is), was knocked to the ground violently only to be chased when he got back up. Money, a paint, double barrel kicked Sully, a QH, in the chest. And all the boys took turns running poor Lola in literal circles. I've never seen them act so badly. Perhaps spring fever has hit early?

Anyway, we get 3 inches of snow tomorrow. Classes start next week for our students. Enjoy the weather and have a happy ride.
