After another weekend of Havoc... And I mean literally.

So, the dam of my little Havoc, her name is Snip, had her shoes pulled on Thursday. Now she had a bad case of laminitis two years ago and has 23.5 degrees of rotation in her right fore. So, the front of her foot doesn't exactly grow all that well. Which is why we'd pull her shoes and see if she could go barefoot and quit cracking up what little foot she has. Apparently not. P3 is pretty close to the sole, she must have bruised it, so quite lame. Farrier and vet out on a Sunday morning, cheap at half the price, but her shoes are back on. Have to put a plug in for Soft Ride boots, they've literally saved her life, I'm fairly sure, we're on our second pair of those, with or without inserts, we've used them tons. She wore those boots with a harder heel and soft toe to keep her comfy until we could get everyone together.

Little Havoc, himself, is good. He's learning to lead quite well. I did get in trouble with our vet for being lenient on him. I guess Tough Mom has to prevail.

Which leads up to the insights part. I came home and had a lesson on little Maggie. It was definitely better than last week, but I could not get a right flexion to save my life. Then we hit the canter work. Apparently I've been helping Maggie WAY too much. Well, she's actually convinced me that I have to do the work. And then, if she has a hissy fit, it's MY fault. Oh well this stops RIGHT NOW! We had some lovely transitions and we'll have to keep working on that. My trainer is brilliant. I suspect she's seen just about every trick in the book, so she's pretty savvy on my little girl's tricks. And Maggie has trained me quite well, you may have noticed. So, untrain me, re-train her, and we're on our way to making me a decent rider for when Havoc is ready to break.

I can see the appeal of not so smart horses....
