The Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) has been established as a Colorado non-profit organization by passionate members of the U.S. western horse community to combine the culture of the American western horse and the discipline of classical dressage.

"Western Dressage, as the name implies, is a combination of the best of both equine worlds: the traditional western horsemanship and classical dressage," says Ellen Di Bella, president of the new Association’s Board of Directors. "Each discipline of horsemanship is time honored. When you combine the philosophy and practice of each, you have a better western horse and rider."

Other WDAA founders include Bonnie Glasgow, Barbara Molland, and Neide Cooley. The founding Board of Directors and supporting Advisory Board is comprised of members of all major organizations and breeds within the U.S. horse community.

The WDAA will be accepting memberships, establish its website, offer information, clinics, educational demonstrations and products in September, 2010.

The website address is:
www.WesternDressageAssociation.com.

For more information, contact Bonnie Glasgow, WDAA Public Relations (214) 707-1873, WDAA.info@yahoo.com.

The rules for Western Dressage can be found at the USEF website

The following rules for bits are:

Bits: Snaffle bits meeting the requirements of MO132.3 may be used on any horse in Basic and Training Level tests. The rider must use two hands with a snaffle bit. The use of a curb bit meeting the requirements of MO132.2 may be used on any horse of any age at either level. Riders may use either one or both hands with the curb bit but may not switch back and forth within the same test. Hackamores and cavessons are not permitted in any level in any test.
