Sept 19 Update and Photos from The WEG Canadian Dressage Team Training Camp!

My coach Belinda Trussell just headed off to the WEG training camp with her horse Anton and two helpers. Bonnie Bonello has had her lovely horse Pikardi at our barn and they went with our gang as well.

Photos and reports have just come in...

Hello everyone!

I'm very happy to report that our Canadian Dressage Team looks absolutelty amazing! It has only been a few days of training camp, but it has been a treat to watch world class riding and international quality horses. Today, Belinda performed her freestyle with Anton and gave me goosebumps. At WEG, the top 15 competitors after the Grand Prix will advance to the freestyle, only the top 2 from each country allowed, so I'm sure we will see Bee there!!!

It has been very hot, over 30 celcius everyday, so the horses were clipped yesterday. It does cool off a lot at night though, enough for blankets to go on. There is a great sense of Canadian team spirit among the riders, who are all very supportive of one another. Whether it be watching rides, team lunch/dinners, helping one another in the barn, it is all great to see, because as we know WEG is largely a team event.

I have attached a few pictures...I am videotaping rides so it is hard to take pictures at the same time! First, a picture of Anton being "just a horse", happy and with breakfast all over his face!

Next picture is Bonny warming up Pikardi today. His pirouettes were jaw-dropping!

Third picture is Belinda and Anton during a walk moment, he definitely has the "Oakcrest look" with great weight and a gleaming coat!
Cheers,
Sarah

A few pictures from the beautiful Woodspring Farm where the Canadian Dressage Team is based for training camp. Anton and Pikardi have settled in very well and each had a very impressive training session with Robert Dover today (Bonnie and Belinda rode great too!).
