Riding can be tough on your body and great for your physique. Staying strong will help you to ride better and improving your general health and fitness will ultimately improve your love of the sport. Making sure you get enough sleep and are well nourished is the first step to good health and the complimentary benefits on your chosen sport. Your horse will be in peak condition, so why shouldn’t you be too?

An exercise routine which incorporates a variety of approaches is always going to be the best way to maximise your potential. Combining disciplines will also keep your interest as variety is as we know the spice of life! Women’s bodies change over time and as many of you may have already experienced, once you get past 30 it is easier to gain weight and harder to shake it! Keep on top of things with a watchful eye in the kitchen – fill the fridge with fresh ingredients and give your Fairy Liquid a work out by cooking from scratch, even if you do make a bit of a mess! The whole family are bound to appreciate the results.

When you are up and out early most days you will love the option of quick meals wherever possible so make sure you set yourself up with healthy nutritious snacks. Try to eat regularly throughout the day even if you are busy at the stables, and avoid eating really late at night. Keep your intake of water high too as it aids digestion and wards off dehydration – a hazard when you are expending energy and working outside in the sunshine.

Make this the best time of your life by being as healthy as you possibly can be as you reach the pinnacle of your abilities as a rider. You will look great, feel vital and stay well: who could resist!
