So I've never really consistently kept a blog before, and those that I did write up were done years ago. This could be fun for kind of keeping track of what is going on with the horses I ride, the barn life and all that, though!

So I'm riding for a sales barn right now in Puslinch, Ontario. It operates out of Amarna Farms and we've got everything from super green ponies to that easy 3'6" hunter. As of right now I've got a few that I am working and showing to clients, and as of next week will start showing.
Under my watch I've got:
*chestnut mare that jumps anything, enormous stride, ridiculously nice trot, she's scopey, they'd like to keep her a hunter but personally I think she'd do much better in the jumper world. Love this mare, and snarky as she can be, she can also be a real sweetheart!

*very green pony that spent his whole life being 'allowed to do whatever he wanted' out in the fields and on the trails, so he doesn't seem to know what corners or walls are... Makes for an interesting ride, but at least he's a fabulous mover and jumps anything. Before he came he had never jumped, and oh, did I mention he's 14 years old?? Talk about teaching an old dog new tricks!! This one's a challenge and quite frustrating at times. Would be an amazing family pony though...

*giant 17.2hh Hanoverian mare that doesn't really pick up her legs until you hit 3', is amazing over 3'6" and would never hurt a fly! I wish this lovely lady could stick around for a while so that I could have at least one ride that's not only easy on me but fun, too! She's going to be awesome in the ring - I can't wait!

*young thoroughbred gelding that apparently showed at WEF in the baby greens or pre greens but from what I can tell, his owners/trainers just threw him into the ring because he had a cute jump. He has a lot of work that needs to be done on the flat, ie he doesn't really know how to go from trot to canter - only walk to canter and it's sticky at that (because I don't wear spurs with him and his owners always wore them) and can be quite a handful when he wants to be!! This one, although a cute mover and adorable over jumps is one to watch out for when he's feeling good... Can he ever buck!! Not to be mean though, just 'cause he's feeling great!

*another thoroughbred gelding that was originally an eventer who is now being turned into a hunter. He is just about as quiet a horse as you can get. He packs around so I don't actually ride him so much anymore - passed him down to one of the more nervous girls... she loves him!

*super cute grey pony that I rode for the first time yesterday. He's got a huge stride, moves wonderfully, doesn't seem to be phased by jumps at all, but a bit on the noodley side. Oh, and he can be quick at the start, too! He's going to be a very quick sell, I think. Thank goodness! We've got too many at the barn!

And the others that aren't normally on my 'to ride' list:
*medium black pony, broke? I don't really think so... She has also just been poked around on trails all her life... I believe she's only been ridden about three times since she arrived at the barn?? Not an easy sell, that's for sure. :P
*small chestnut pony, offspring of above pony, even less broke than her momma, but so so so cute.
*chunky Hanoverian mare that started off in the hunters but is now doing dressage, and though she seems fussy at times because she actually has to work, she looks amazing!!! Great, great mover.
*thoroughbred gelding that has unfortunately had an accident and is on stall rest for a few months... a real character and was going quite well before the mishap out in the field!
*trakehner mare, started, broke but extremely green. Super sweet, don't really know what she's being trained for, haven't seen her go in a while as I'm usually gone by the time her rider comes...
*thoroughbred (I think) mare, re-broke as in the first time she was broke someone scared her good because she has some odd quirks... Will be great once she gets going though, as she seems to love the work and attention!

And I think that's it for now! Hopefully a few will be going in the next couple weeks (some very interested clients right now... crossing my fingers!!) and we will continue on from there. This has been quite the novel! Eek!
