Serious rider looking for employment

Thumbnail
Cross-posting - hope it's in the right place! Just back from about 2 years in Holland and Belgium riding (mostly young horses, but up to GP horses as well) and grooming. I am looking to continue with my riding back in Canada! I will be staying just outside the K-W area until I find something suitable.Ideally I would love to find a live-in, full-time position. Doesn't matter where! In the mean-time though, part-time, temporary, one-time rides or catch-rides can be organized. Just want to stay in…See More

Death Grip and Survival Instinct

Posted on July 2, 2008 at 11:08pm 2 Comments

So I had an extremely interesting ride today. It's been a couple weeks since I have gone out to the barn, but with clients coming out tomorrow I really had to get on a couple of the buggers to get them ready.

My first ride was great! The horse is extremely trustworthy and equally good outside as he is inside - a total ammy horse!

The second ride... Well this is where things got fun. The mare is not only chestnut, but Trakehner too. (Not to say that all chestnut mares or… Continue

Took the pony and one of the horses to a schooling show on Saturday. We learned a lot and for the most part they were great!

The pony was in the 2'3" class, and thank goodness he's one of those great ones where you never have to worry about them stopping, regardless of what distance you give them. (I had a couple long spots that I would have preferred to stick in another small stride, but apparently that was not what pony wanted... we were giving the jumpers a run for their… Continue

I feel like this is the story of my life. I'm one of those people that gets along with just about everyone and though it sounds great at first, it does come with its little burdens. For example, I'm ALWAYS the one that people come to to vent, get an opinion, some advice, whatever. Sure it's flattering that people trust me enough with their feelings and information to come to me, but when you are in the very small horse world, everyone seems to know everyone else and I become the trapped… Continue

This could be fun...

Posted on June 6, 2008 at 3:30pm 2 Comments

So I've never really consistently kept a blog before, and those that I did write up were done years ago. This could be fun for kind of keeping track of what is going on with the horses I ride, the barn life and all that, though!

So I'm riding for a sales barn right now in Puslinch, Ontario. It operates out of Amarna Farms and we've got everything from super green ponies to that easy 3'6" hunter. As of right now I've got a few that I am working and showing to clients, and as of next… Continue
