14 yars ago we were looking for a name for our border collie female.  We had just left the horses, had our first dog in many years and were looking for a name that would represent horses, and Ireland, and something out of the ordinary.  We found it in the Connemara Ponies... they are beautiful, gallant, sweet, strong, willing, but very proud.. they symbolise for me all that is great in ponies and horses, and in Ireland in their sprit and strength of courage and honesty.  After seeing this video I am very glad we chose to call our dog... Connermara Lassie, or Mara as she is known to one and all... she is deaf now, and old.. but always she is strong, kind, and loyal... she is and always has been true to herself, and us, and a free sprit once she walked and ran with grace and beauty, now she is still graceful and lovely in her old age and her wisdom that only years can bring... I am very glad we chose to honor the Connemara Ponies with her name... she is the best dog, friend, companion and member to our family... I have had dogs all my life, and after years of have great dogs, she has been bar none the best one I have every had the pleasure of knowing.
