There is a sense of urgency when you want to get your horse off the leg and forward, mostly because taking your sweet old time will only teach your horse to be less reactive to the leg, ultimately creating more need for leg, forward and engagement. And that is a slippery slope to having it all fall apart both in and out of the show ring!

In this video Olympian and US Team coach Robert Dover shows us the importance of forward in the dressage horse and how to ALWAYS be asking your horse to move forward. They have to be ready, willing and able to go forward at any given point. This is one of the big keys to success in the show ring!

This video was filmed at the Robert Dover Horsemastership program in Wellington Florida in 2016.
