Over the last two days Sahara has opened up and shown me whole heap of itchy spots. Scratching your horse may not seem like much, but, don't underestimate the power of spending undemanding time with your horse. Just hanging out, giving scratches, finding itchy places. Just because you are not going any where and doing what seems like nothing can be so important for your horse! I have always known that spending undemanding time with your horse was important. But Sahara has highlighted that for me in such a big way! All I did with her this morning was scrach her itchy place, my result for the afternoon where huge!! She cantered to me straight away. This is a horse that would rather you weren't in her life. Nope, she came straight away. She put herself in the perfect place for me to scratch more itchy places. When I was finished there she me on the other side to scratch more. Then I haltered her, and she was lighter and more relaxed than ever. The realationship is growing, the results are huge and the possibilities are endless!
Do not underestimate the power of undemanding time.

Good observation. When you look at horses in a herd, they spend a fair amount of time grooming each other. This is one of their social activities.
