Riders at a riding academy in Alfriston, Sussex, made a horrifying discovery last week when they found the remains of a young horse which had been stabbed to death in pasture.  There were other horses sharing the pasture, but only the one had been killed.

Local police are taking the attack very seriously and are working with the RSPCA to investigate.  There was another gruesome incident recently in which some nearby horses were given apples laced with pins and other sharp metal objects, but there does not appear to be a connection between the two attacks.

The owners of the slaughtered horse were devastated by their loss and requested that anyone with information please come forward to the police.
