Who else is following American Idol this season? What do you think of Cara? I wish they would get to Hollywood already.

Adios Tatianna...I wonder if she will become Paula's latest stalker??? Hmmmm
My trio got together for our weekly rehearsal tonight and got into a discussion about Idol (as we do every rehearsal during the season) and we all agreed that the fellow who's wife died shortly before he auditioned (don't recall his name, unfortunately, but he wears glasses and hangs out with a friend of his who's also in the competition) is the one to watch. He's great vocally and demonstrates a quiet, though enthusiastic, confidence.

The field is still wide spread at this point, and I don't believe we have heard all the great voices yet. I'm curious to see how it all unfolds next week.
And now he's through to the final 12!! I agree he is one to watch - seems like a beautiful soul and a beautiful voice too..
I really think they ought to rename this show "The Agony and the Ecstasy."

Lots of great voices though ... particularly the guys. I'm really curious to see who makes it through to the final 36 tomorrow night.
Hey, where is everybody? Am I the only one watching AI now?!!!

There's definitely some great talent headed into the next round -- the blue collar boys are both excellent -- in fact I find the guys overall to be more memorable.

Tatiana can sing, but she's still pretty annoying. There are lots of faces whose voices we haven't heard yet too ... Lots of good stuff to come, I'm thinking ...
I just watched 3 hours (!) of Hollywood glitz. Luckily I taped the two shows this week so the actual watching time was only about 20 minutes. :)

Was it just me or were the red throne chairs a bit over the top?

Tatiana and Norman could only have been picked to go on because of their completely zany personalities. But I love them.

Seems like a very strong group this year. My theory is that AI has raised the bar and that many more people are singing and taking lessons with the goal of trying out and making singing a career. So in recent years the groups have been getting stronger and stronger. Last year was amazing. David Cook was amazing (but where is he???).

Finally, do they have to torture every contestant?
The simple answer to your last question is "Yes!" of course they do ... that's what makes it "interesting" television. But some of it is way over the top and having been part of a reality show in my past it would not surprise me if they tell Tatiana to over do it ... that thought occured to me this morning. Maybe I'm a cynic ...

The thrones were also over the top ... but that's Hollywood!!

I was really annoyed at the "sing-off" component of this episode, especially when it came to the blue collar boys at the end who are both clearly capable singers. Having said that, some how I knew they would both get through ... the build up was just too obvious.
Well, we at long last got the first important results: the first 3 into the final 12.

There was no doubt about the top guy and gal:Danny Gokey and Alexis Grace. Both really showed their stuff with a couple of awesome performances that the judges universally liked. They picked good songs (can anyone go wrong with "Hero"?).

As far as the third pick, Michael Sarver, goes, he's a good story (an oil rig worker with a voice of gold) but he'll never win AI in my opinion. But Danny or Alexis might. Of course, we haven't yet heard from the other two groups and you know that there is going to be some serious talent show-cased. This is yet another strong singing year (can't wait to hear Lil Rounds). But does anyone yet remind you of David Cook?

Meanwhile, the producers left poor ol' Tatiana wondering to the end. She actually held up under the stress much better than I'm certain the judges and producers thought. Certainly better than I thought: I expected her to absolutely crack at the end, but she was all class. Maybe she'll be back in the wild-card round??? Miss the laugh.

Can't wait until next week!
Last night's results were quite satisfying. Alexis and Danny are solid gold and Michael is all heart -- it'll be interesting to see how he rises to the challenge.

Tatiana had certainly mellowed ... I'm wondering if someone talked to her about toning it down. She did handle her "loss" with some grace.

Simon looked bored for most of the show, however ... the ol' "been there, done that" expression. It'll be interesting to see who really gets him pumped. I think he really likes Danny, but perhaps it's just too early in the proceedings for him to show his feelings, or something.

So much fun to speculate on all this fluff ...
Alright, it's about time I join this American Idol thread...I'd like to start by saying: WOW ADAM LAMBERT!! He is definitely the one to beat this year. His performance tonight was unreal, not to mention his smoldering "emo" good looks...not generally my type but for him I'll make an exception. I also have to mention Nick or Norman... whichever. Very entertaining as usual. Let's just hope he doesn't become the next Sanjaya. Overall, though, the top 36 is quite disappointing. I've had to fast forward through almost all the songs because they're either painfully bad or just plain boring. Either way, not good at all! Looking forward to the top 12. Two weeks to go!
Last night's crop was not as good as last week's, IMHO. Adam definitely stole the show (save the best til last, eh!) although there was a young woman who was quite good. I must admit I only go to see the last five singers in full because I was out last night, so I paid attention to the highlights at the end of the show. There's a brunette somewhere in the middle that seemed to be on the ball ... but no where near Adam. So far the contest is between him and Danny Gokey (?) and maybe the little blonde girl from week one.

I would agree, though, last night's show, even the bit I saw, was disappointing. Seems to me that most of these kids just don't get how it all works ... the judge's want to be wowed by range and passion. Singing the same five notes every which way in the mid range is not going to impress anyone ... especially if you fall in and out of pitch. That's really painful ... and shows poor song choice.

So, will watch tonight and see who gets the boot. I'll be curious ...
Hmmmm ... let's see ... Nick or Adam ... Nick or Adam .... Nick or Adam ............. ADAM!!!!! Duh!

The last two minutes of tonight's results show was perhaps the silliest moment in American Idol history!

Who do you think is coming back as a wild card from the first two groups? Tatiana? Anoop? ... Nick?
