Hi, my name is Mary McGuire Smith, and I am based in Vero Beach, Florida, and Mentone, AL (USA). I used to go every year to train in Europe from 2000 thru 20006, but then the euro/dollar ratio went so sky-high that not only was it too expensive to travel there for training, but I re-thought my position on buying horses from Europe and importing them! I would love to share my experiences in Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Slovenia if anyone cares to hear, as well as discuss the travel/horse-buying trends based on the economy! I travelled to Portugal last year and did some training on Lusitano stallions. It was one of the best weeks of my life. Sure beats lying on the beach all day. Next year I am planning a trip to Spain. So I am saving all my money to get there.
