She has been pretty restless all day. I have been watching her for 7 hours...I am dedicated! lol

I keep hoping she gives into the 'contractions'!

Yes I have seen that too.  I'm pretty sure she's having contractions...she's fighting it.

I noticed a couple of times it looked like she tensed significantly in her midsection into her rump a few minutes ago.

Thats what I thought. We have not had any new foals born here since summer of 09 and I didnt come into the picture until fall of 10. I missed all the fun of watching them be born and raising them.

Pacing, pawing, shifting weight, getting up and down, holding out tails...pretty much all she is doing....she just needs to lay down and push.

What are some signs of early labor? I know what the active phase looks like.  Are there any tell tale signs?

My daughter just had a good laugh at me right now because she needed help trimming her hair and I took my laptop in the bathroom so I could keep an eye on Chanel.
