The temps have risen to 16 degrees here in central Indiana with snow showers. Forty-three predicted by Wednesday. It has been a very strange, warm and wet winter.

I'm with your warm up! Why would you put a horse whose muscles are not loose and flexible in a frame? I do what you described with very good results.

Vickie, how sad you had to put your mare down. We currently have 2 horses with Cushings. One is 24, the other 21. Both are receiving a drug called Pergolide that seems to slow, but not cure the disease.

In my next life, I think I'll try one of those. *laughing* Right now I'm happy with my big 17+ chestnut Hanoverian gelding (Loewenhart) and my small Welsh pony (Venus). Unfortunately I don't have my own place and must board my horses at a boarding facility. I ride dressage on my big fella and my grandchildren (ages 4 and 7) ride the pony. I feel very blessed to have horses in my life and will ride until I can't haul myself up on them anymore.
