I think you have to experiment and use what works best for you.  I just know that these have been the most reliable for us :)

I'm going to try the Foal Time test strips as well,have you heard of using the test strips they use to test the ph in swimmimg pools?  I have heard they are cheaper and more reliable,I think I would be a little apprehensive using that alone,and I'm not really sure how they work.

Ok, Thanks.. :)  I went with the Foal time test as you thought so highly of them.. also posted a link on my site about it, we have lots of breeders there & I'm sure they would like to try them out also.. Really appreciate your info Heather!!

Yes, we will test her again tonight.  With the Foal Time strips we test often.  With the Predicat-a-foal we only test until they reach five squares, which Chantilly Lace did several days ago..and you see no foal.  The Foal Time have been much more reliable.  And I thought Shannon (daughter) had said she was ready on that test, but she was one level above ready.  Now she's more like 1/2 level above...which can change so quickly.

Oh Wow, so I AM going to miss it I bet!! UGH!!  Now will you test her again tonight?  I got my strips yesterday btw.. :)  I read it said to test often, so wanted to pick your brain on how often you test with them.  One of my mares last year foaled out with clear milk!!! That was a first, it wasnt until mid day that her milk turned white.. Been breeding for years and never saw anything like it..

Well if it's a phantom pregnancy we need to name the foal Phantom because it used to kick the snot out of us.  Now it's very quiet...in position hopefully.

Chantilly Lace is heavily waxed and her vulva is elongated and relaxed.  She also lost her mucus plug so she's getting there.

Her milk is still thinner than we figure it should be.  Her body says yes...the tests say not quite ...we'll see who wins.

All I can say is REALLY no foal????? LOL  Looks like you had to strip the stall, I freaked out a little when I didn't see straw down, thought I missed it all.. Going out tonight so I'm sure she'll foal this evening..
