Wow,what a surprise!!!!Pearl foaled.....can't wait to see her and new little boy. I do hope she bonds with him soon,it seems that it wouldn't be uncommon for a maiden mare not to accept her foal initally,is that true Heather? What do you do if you could not get her to bond with the foal and how long would you continue trying before you would take other steps?

does she have much milk?? i knew somone who wiped the mares milk over the foal and it helped them to bond. this was after the mare gave birth and ran through a fence in total fright of her foal and would not go near it. when they led her up to her foal she started snorting and shying at it. the milk did help, must be the smell i dont know.
cmon miss pearl you can do it hes your lil miracle....

Well, Miss Pearl (maiden) has decided that she wants nothing to do with this colt - and do mean nothing. We ahve the cam off while we work with her and Journey, her little man. Bear with us.
