This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Dayle has been kind enough to allow us to peek into her barn this foaling season since I have no babies arriving at my farm this year. Here is her lineup... 1) HHAA Bumbles - Due January ??, 2014 (separated from jack Feb. 24th, 2013)2)…Continue

I am. Can I put my hand up and stomp my foot? LOL she is getting increasingly miserable. Good grief. Checking her is doable but not easy.
Is anyone else getting impatient to see what ms Kitty is holding on to???
How is Kitty coming along? Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days. Just started a new job with much earlier hours. I am still adjusting my sleep schedule.
Last night baby was running, rearing, bucking and then in to nurse. Temp didn't deny her at all and didn't get upset when baby was out of her sight. Baby is a little rough at the nursing department so Mom is justified in nipping babys back legs. I think Temptation and her baby are very similar in temperment, both strong, both really good looking, 2 divas in a stall makes things exciting. Your right Heather Chiquita gets all she needs then runs away to play.
It's actually not unusual in our experience. Chiquita nurses often - in spurts and then takes her time and gets a good nursing in. If she was lacking, she wouldn't be so active. We're very pleased with the bonding and Temptation finally settling into mommy mode. She's a first time mom and is still learning.
Yes, it sure looks like a strange relationship, especially with the foal being so young.
And looky now...Mom and baby are lying in the stall together... they sure have a strange relationship. Mommy dearest, indeed. very good, Tracy..
Temptation is a mommie dearest but baby holds her own, she goes outside a lot to explore and Temptation just eats in the stall. Baby is running around at top speed in the darkness and mom is ignoring her. I'm laughing out loud, baby is a sharp, independent and cute as the dickens.
I was just watching Temp and her foal- does she allow the foal to nurse often? When I started watching and the foal was outside while Mom was inside eating. Foal came in and has tried to nurse, but Mom won't let her.
Thank you for the pics. This one is a winner, for sure. She is gorgeous!
