This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

We think Tonja is going to go...hope you guys don't miss it.
Last, but never least, our star, Tonja. She was pasture bred at Aloha so there are no dates. When the vet ultrasounded her she said she was due in April...haha. As you see we are approaching June and Tonja is finally letting us know it's almost time.
She is testing 24 on the refractometer and one above ready on the test strips. I really expect her bag to get much larger, but her milk is thick, so we're being cautious. We'll keep watch from here on out.
Thank you so much for joining us in the stable.

Congrats Victoria!!! Where is the blood dripping from? If from the mare's vulva, yes it's normal. If from the umbilical cord no...it indicates that the cord is still open and would be suseptible to infection. Do we get to see photos?
FYI - Tonja is out while she continues to progress. She is such a messy stall keeper, and she's progressing so slowly we decided to leave her out for a bit longer.
Both my Falabella minis foaled, one on May 18th and the other, about 7:30 today. I am concerned about the mare (maiden) that just foaled. It was a big boy and she seems to be dripping abit of blood from her vulva. The placenta was intact and he vulva looks pink and clean, however, I have missed my other 2 foals being born and they we all up, clean, eating and running around before I got to them in the morning. Is the dripping of blood normal and, if so, how long should it last? Thanks for you help.
Mine are minis... LOL Are yours?
Why do my mares look twice the size!!!!
She's in and out during the day. Probably will be in at night.
I see the DQ (Drama Queen ) is on furlough.. She is definitely gorgeous looking.

Tonja definetely is not a happy camper but is she ever nice and sleek!
When they are pastured together all the time they most certainly maintain a relationship. We have one mare and several of her offspring who have all been pastured with her most of their lives. She was closest to her filly(the youngest) but she has moved away. I doubt that filly will remember her at all in a year or so. She has always disciplined and been close with her whole brood.
