Yes we sure do Pat. If we are exhausted we find someone to watch - someone we know we can trust.

Just wondering,do you and Shannon sleep in shifts when you have a mare close to foaling:)

I was reading something the other day that stated most foalings take 45 minutes or less.  I would have to agree that it's because of them being an easy target for dinner in the wild.  And the foals should get up pretty quickly.

Wishy blessed us with a beautiful TALL filly.  Her name is Mulligans Run Flirtatious Dreams.  Barn name is "Flirt"

Boy, you go away to feed the cats and come back, boom another filly on the ground!  Congrats.  I'm guessing that the quickness of deliveries in general from horses has to do with being a prey animal.

I am just glad Candy is responding to her treatment and it is all due to your quick action and round the clock care that she is doing so well. Sugar Babe looks worried that her baby is sick, so she will be happy when everything is back to normal. I hope things settle down. Am I seeing snow falling at MRF? I thought this was Spring..what happened? I am in Illinois near Chicago and we are going to have flurries....crazy weather.

I'm not sure that there is a way to tell if her intestines are formed okay.  She just had a stressful night which threw everything out of whack.  It's hard to imagine that one night could lead to this.  But she is 100% better.  not sure she's 100% back to normal but she's getting there.

Heather, you still have many left to foal !! You and Shannon have your hands full running MRF. My hat off to you ladies. I am glad Candy is doing better. Pretty scary when one that tiny gets sick like that. Projectile diarrhea is not fun, especially in a horse so young. Are her intestines formed ok?

We love Silvadene cream, but the desitin is working great.  We use silvadene on many things.  It's wonderful.

Heather, what does your Vet think about using Silvadene cream for Candy's little bum?  We use it on burn patients with very good results.

Hmm...thought I posted once tonight.  Maybe the server is eating my responses.  We have 10, maybe 11, to foal for us personally  Then there are 5 or 6 outside mares to foal.  We may get some for fall foalings...sigh.
