Red bags are much more common in the miniatures.  We give herbs to try to prevent it, but since no one knows for sure what causes a redbag, we can only guess on what to give to prevent them.

Wow, Heather..you just have minutes to deliver that foal and you had two red bag deliveries! UGH!! Is that a common complication in mini's? It would be like breeding Chihuahuas or Yorkies in the dog world. I give you and Shannon a lot of credit for your skill and expertise.

Where is Abby? And who is the mare in the lower left?

Yes Claire.  The placenta detaches inside and is delivered first.  This means the foal is wihtout oxygen.  It's imperative that the foal is delivered as quickly as possible when a red bag is involved.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but I am a former pug breeder turned rescue enthusiast so no longer breed. What is a red bag delivery? The placenta comes out first? You can tell I only ride horses, not birth them. LOL  Again..congrads on another safe delivery of a beautiful filly. Thanks for filming this one.

If Eves little one wags her tail any harder, she'll make it off the ground!!

There is no replay for Eve because we had no warning.
