It varies Toots.  Alot depends on the foal and the weather.  I really hate having a baby on shavings, so I'll take my chances with the straw.  Most of them don't eat it as voraciously as sadie does.  You would think she was starved.

can i ask how long you keep mare and foal on straw Heather, my mare due in May will do the same as Sadie and eat it, which she really does'nt need to do as she's a really good doer !!!!!!!!!!

OK. I think she's just REALLY mad about the lack of straw in her stall!!  Stomping like a 2 year old child :D.
