This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Vet will be here tomorrow to set a Cath and get her hydrated to help move whatever is sticking. She's drinking well, but with the filly nursing she will dehydrate if we aren't careful.
Hoping for manure so she doesn't have to have a cath set. When the vet is here the cam will be off. Just an FYI.
I don't mind answering your questions at all Violet.
It's funny that you mentioned caffeine because a friend of mine said their vet uses a coffee enema. I think someone already used it on the filly. LOL
Sorry for all the questions. I know you have a wonderful, experienced vet and I know you are having bad weather. I'm just THAT curious and THAT nosey. Is there a beginner horse forum that you can recommend that doesn't mind newbie questions. I really don't have any interest in purchasing one. Well, I DO, just don't want the cost and time/energy to take care of one! Anyone want to buy me a mini horse and feed it and clean up after it for me???
You've been so gracious in answering all of my questions. Thank you so much.
Definitely not at all implying that the foal has ANYTHING at all wrong with her. She is just a riot and I wondered if she was just unique like that. Are you sure mom isn't getting caffiene in her water?? J/K. :D
My goodness Violet - lots of questions. I promise my vet is the very best and she will not allow any harm to come to either of them. She has only their best interest at heart :) I trust her with my own life - that's how much I think of her.
Yes, Tilly will continue to make milk to her baby even without food. We do not like having them go this long without, but we dont' want to add to any blockage that may be there. She has flavored water and her regular water and is received supplements.
Most of our foals are as active as this one. Some come out and are very quiet, some come out running non-stop like this one. You just never know how they will be. Personally, I like this because you know she has energy and she's getting plenty to eat. When they are quiet they worry me, but then I worry about many things.
We would love to get Tilly out to walk, but we are still iced in. The filly will want to run and play and we don't want any issues with injuries on top of Tilly's discomfort.
Maybe she would be more comfortable and relax so she could pooh if you took her off camera.
Forgive my odd humor, it relieves my stress when I am concerned.
Is Tilly normally a very sensitive mare?
I sure hope she's feeling better soon. Real SOON!!
