This is the largest stall we have Amy, and these stalls have worked fine for us for the past seven years. In my opinion the larger the stall the harder to heat, regardless, this is what works for us. We routinely leave mom and foal in for a couple of days, depending on how they doing.

couldn't chantilly and snowflake have a larger area or a double stall? i know it's cold, maybe that's why - trying to keep her warm with the sunlamps may be hard- but aren't little foals supposed to have a larger area to romp around in?  Unless that stall is larger then it looks?

I guess you aren't used to the nasty weather down there.  We're currently in the -20C's.  Which is why we aren't foaling anyone now!  Hope everyone stays toasty and safe.

I wonder what foals dream about...

LOL, I think she must be glad to be free of that belly, it must have been pretty cramped in there.

I am in total awe that this wee little snowball is so frisky and she isn't even a full day old.  I was able to witness her birth and I haven't stopped talking about it to all my friends.  It is a good thing I have a PVR as I haven't watched TV for several days .  I wish I could put my life "on hold" so I could these two girls 24/7.  Thank-you Heather for making my day.

hopefully all that running about will keep her warm!

Wait til she tries to nurse while Tilly is laying down.  She's done it once today already.  Smart little girl. LOL
