I bet she will foal when I am either not home or am not watching, lol.

Oops - Michelle you asked me why we took the straw out.  I absolutely HATE and I repeat HATE foaling on straw and shavings.  We typically use cardboard, but our dealer has had some issues with local stock and we have had to resort back to shavings.  UGH.  Anyway...the straw was a problem and kept her stall nasty.  We will be very hands on in the delivery and we will have straw down as soon as possible under that foal.  We just took it out while we cleaned and wanted to keep the stall as clean as we could.  Hope that makes sense :)

Update....her Foal Time Test strip did NOT change color today - it remained yellow which means she's as close as she can get.  She is also dripping milk, which is not a worry, but it means she is definitely close.  She will remain in under our watchful eye.

For those who are new to our cam we are very hands on with our foalings. We will not enter the stall until she starts pushing, but then we will check position and we will assist with the birth.  This is our way of doing things and it works for us.  If this bothers you please do not watch.  We are very quiet and very attentive, but we are there until the foal nurses on it's own and until it poops.  Then we will leave them be.

If the cam goes off please don't assume the worst.  It usually means that there may be an issue..but not always.  Sometimes the cams do malfunction :).  We will keep you posted as much as we can.  If Rach or Michelle can text me I will update IF I am available to do so.  Otherwise one of my moderators may come on and post an update.

We tend to be very honest and very open and I will share all that goes on...good or bad.  And unfortunately, there are times when things do go bad.  We hope this is not the case and that the 2011 foaling season will bring us lots of beautiful foals to watch run and play.

Thanks for joining us in the stables!

I meant to ask before - is this Chantilly's first foal?

I am getting a kick out of learning her routine all the way from Wyoming (yes, you have viewers watching from Cowboy Country!) and at 6 a.m. every morning, she is standing in front of the door, staring,  waiting for breakfast - like clockwork. I thought for sure I'd wake up and turn on the computer and see some action. But no, there she was staring at her door waiting for breakfast. Too cute! Cant' wait ...
