Cinny is up and down and curling up her lip. She's either getting ready to foal or she thinks she's colicky...

is that snow??? we have a top today of 28'C here in Melbourne, Aust. i have just turned my air conditioner on. those poor babies being born in the cold... it makes you want to take them inside and put them in front of the fire ...
you do a great job Heather, they are all sooo precious and so beautiful...

Hi Heather,
Have you ever had horses go in labor at the same time? I could imagine that would be chaotic.

I can't wait for them to have their foals.

Pat - Ace was born here and I've alway loved her. I had her for sale for awhile and she was gone for over a year....but she's home now and she'll be staying. I love her to pieces and she seems to like me a little bit too LOL.

Cinny & Ace are the same as this morning - only further along....Cinny made another very large jump on the refractometer and Ace is swollen and relaxed.....as much as I'd like them to go we are having such awful weather that I hope they wait......I'm betting not.

I can tell Heather, Ace is very special to you,she seems sooo sweet. On the cam she looks like a little lamb. I hope she has a very easy labor and easy birth..Can't wait to see more new babies!!!

Cinny has had several foals for us. Ace is a maiden - born on our farm.

No, not all the mares and foals get along. They have a pecking order - boss mares and those that are under them. When you have a new mom and foal that mom does not like others around. Now - in the case of Striker and Silhouette - they can share a stall (a first for us) because it's big enough and they get along.

The colts will stay with the fillies (once weaned) until they are a year old or until they show stallion tendencies. Then we separate them. Our stallions have separate paddocks outside with their own shelters and views of the girls.

Sadie is doing great! She was flushed yesterday and reported perfectly fine by our vet. Tomorrow we give vaccines....fun.
